Is there really room for another social network? We all know that many among the Shiny Shiny team heart MySpace and Facebook and I've admitted to loving the idea of Virb, but really... where else can we go from here?
Apparently, we can move from social network to social platform - that is, link all our other sites together. It's increasingly common to have many accounts at many sites, so why not have a single point from which you can check all of them? MyLifeBrand is still in alpha, but it will offer this service.
It starts with Friendster, LinkedIn, Bebo, Facebook, H15, Orkut, MySpace, and TagWorld among others. MyLifeBrand is also targetting niche sites like Angling Masters, Navy Seals and Drunk Duck in the future, adding further supported networks over the coming months.
“MyLifeBrand is not another social network,” said Daniel Scalisi EVP of MyLifeBrand. “ but rather a social platform which enables people to aggregate and better manage their favorite social networks and services, as well as enabling communities to develop a fully branded relevant community on our platform,” he said.
So contrary to Mark Zuckerburg's plans to have an online operating system in Facebook, Scalisi is advocating many different kinds of "facebook", with one place to check them all, one place to bind them (you see where I'm going here).
The problem is, I just don't think I can be bothered with joining any more sites! Would you find this kind of aggregation service useful? Let us know.

I am quite happy with Profilactic.com. I have got pretty much all of my social networks listed there. If people ever want to know where to find me online, they can look me up on Profilactic; I've even considered using it instead of my website URL when making comments on blogs.
This is just the service I was looking for - thanks for telling me about it. It was so easy to add all of my contacts to one place - plus they offer a host of niche communities, like one for Kelly Clarkson fans. I suggest trying it out.
Personally, I find netvibes.com to be far superior in terms of total web life aggregation. Soooo useful it's sick.
thanks
