Apparently the Bush administration is not too happy with a legislation that is making its way through Congress that could shield many bloggers and journalists from revealing their confidential sources. The Free Flow of Information Act would protect bloggers, journalists, and any other "news spreaders" from revealing their sources, but The Justice Department says - of course - that this could cause a "security risk". And God knows how much power those Bloggers, have. I mean, they could single handedly bring the terror alert up to orange! All on their own!
This legislation brings us back to the whole "what makes a journalist a journalist?" question, as the assistant attorney general for the Justice Department's Office of Legal Policy, Rachel Brand, called the law's definition of a journalist so broad that "it really includes anyone who wants to post something to the Web." We'll see what happens, as the Justice Department has successfully squashed similar laws. Bastards...
