As much as all this Wii and Xbox stuff is exciting, don’t you still have a soft spot for oldies like Pac Man? I love it when this happens – they’re bringing it back to life with a new version for the Xbox 360! Just today, Microsoft Corp. and NAMCO BANDAI Games present us with this nugget of video game history: the “Pac-Man Championship Edition”. Do you know it’s 26 years since the last new Pac-Man maze was created? Makes me feel old.
To see exactly what the new Pac has in store, you’ll have to have an Xbox 360, since at least for now, that’s all it’s available on, but luckily, it’s not radically different from the classic. Rumour has it that new features include mazes that dynamically change shape during gameplay, Patience and Reward courses, Darkness courses, and Freeway high speed courses to name a few. Needless to say, the Pac-Man Championship Edition will be in High Definition glory, but happily the classic 2D view will be preserved. Watch this trailer at the Xbox Live Arcade. Ahh, it takes me back…
