At 0.7 inches thick - only a quarter inch thicker than the Motorola RAZR - the laptop code-named Metro from Intel claims title of world's thinnest laptop (for however long). Encased in champagne magnesium with gold accents, it has clips for a sling attachment so it can be carried easily as a purse, and has a wireless charger which attaches to the outside magnetically. The charger also functions as a display, with a screen by E-ink. Ziba believes this heralds a new era of high design in laptops instead of ugly function. "It was inspired by traditional stationery," Kotzer says. "It ties back to premium stationary that used to be bound in beautiful leather." Though currently in concept stage, the Metro hopes to hit actual shelves in the reasonably foreseeable future. [GT]
