Japanese jewellers Ginza Tanaka have made a name for themselves by shedding new light on mundane objects - everything is cast in precious metal. Along with Bandai toys they've shaped 1,400 grams of solid platinum into a 5" Gundam figurine.
Melted down, at today's prices, the toy inspired by one of Japan's longest running animated series is worth a staggering $41,468 (about £20,895). Blimey.
