Disney launch social networking site for kids

Now, I think we can probably all agree that it's probably best for everyone if those of a young and impressionable age were kept away from MySpace. (Yes, I know that rules out most of MySpace's user base, but bear with me...) And I think we can probably also agree that if there was a social networking site that was child-friendly, and where you didn't have to worry about your kid "networking" with dubious strangers (or having a seizure because of all of the flashing, clashing backgrounds), then Disney would probably be the people to create it. Which is handy, really, because they just have.

The catchily-named Disney Xtreme Digital is a MySpace-style site aimed at children 14 and under. Unsurprisingly, it gives a lot of control to parents, who have to give their approval before their children can chat to other users. The site is currently in beta, and available to US residents only, but is set to take over the world in the way only Disney can.
