May 18th is being designated National Work From Home Day by Work Wise UK in order to encourage the eco-friendlier trend of home offices. According to Work Wise, technology being the wonderful world-shrinking thing that it is, people can demonstrate greater efficiency and motivation in working from home, as well as having a "profound impact" on traffic, congestion and the environment. Plus there are the added health and leisure benefits for staff who can maintain a better "work-life" balance.
In fairness I love my office and the people in it, so I'm probably not the best person to advocate this. But if you need a day off working from home with the blessing of the TUC, start being really convincing NOW.
