I've heard of branding, but wow, SimpleTech's gone wild. Their new line of SimpleDrives are designed by Pininfarina, the same Italian firm that makes Ferraris so sleek. These are color-coded by capacity: 160GB comes in red, 250GB in pearl, and 500GB in so-called onyx. These external drives use USB 2.0, feature one-click backup, and have a built-in capacity meter. There are also sporty, portable hard drives featuring the same design principles. SimpleTech's message: complicated tech can look simple, but elegant in design.
