Wikisky seems to turn the Google Earth satellites around, making everyone an amateur astronomer. As its name suggests, the Wikisky project aims to consolidate information about the starry skies by inviting contributions and editing through moderators. Just type the name of a star into the box, wait a few seconds, and have its precise location handed to you along with the pop-up box of metadata we've come to know and love. Turn on constellation overlays to marvel at whole clusters.
Prepare to spend some time stargazing... it's oddly hypnotic.
