Bit of information for our American readers, they may've seen Samsung's BlackJack smartphone out in the wild since November last year, but with the company's recent signing with the controversial Rachel Zoe, expect to see a lot more of the phone in future - particularly in the media. The celebrity stylist, famous for working with Nicole Richie and Mischa Barton, has just been profiled in the New York Times, where Cinco Calfee, the Senior Manager for Strategic Marketing at Samsung claims "she's getting a lot of attention (for the company)". The smartphone is marketed as being a 'slimmer' mobile, a tongue-in-cheek reference to the many rumours surrounding all her celebrity clients' dramatic weight loss. Regardless of the controversy surrounding their choice of spokesmodel, the phone sounds pretty impressive. Read on below for all the details...
The BlackJack could be called a BlackBerry rival, running on Windows Mobile technology, and featuring 3G internet access, a qwerty keypad, 320 x 240 screen, Bluetooth 2.0, and 1.3-megapixel camera. Samsung's claim of it being a 'slimmer' smartphone is fairly accurate, with it weighing in at just 3.5 ounces. It has a MicroSD card slot, and the battery apparently lasts for 11 days in standby mode and 5.5 hours of talk time. You can pick it up now from Cingular in the US, at $199.
