Kenwood Media Keg MP3 stores 5,000 songs in tiny hard drive

The name Media Keg brings to mind a medieval barrel of songs being stirred up by some beer bellied pub owner. Well, that couldn’t be further from the truth, since the Media Keg is neither barrel-sized nor beer bellied, although it does hold a lot of songs.

Kenwood’s new 10GB hard drive based MP3 player weighs just 2.8 ounces and has an astounding battery life of 20-24 hours, claim its marketers. The “Media Keg” HD10GB7 can store 5,000 songs and is compatible with all standard file formats. But while TV screens are getting bigger, the main point of this MP3 player is how it’s smaller than its predecessors. The device measures a Lilliputian 44 x 62 x 17 mm yet still squeezes in a 1.5 inch screen. It’s also highly politically correct, conversing in Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Dutch and Spanish via its user interface.
