It’s a bit like those neon glowing rings you used to get at discos when you were twelve, except slightly more sophisticated. Aurora Second Skin is a jewellery concept designed by Kyeok Kim, intended to translate human emotions into light.
The jewellery creates patterns of light on the body as ornamentation, extending the ornamented space around the body and restyling its decorative silhouette by motion. Aurora highlights the relationship between different pieces of jewellery, by the interaction of the pieces with each other.
It all sounds very artistic, but will it catch on? Are we ready to wear our emotions on our sleeves, and indeed, all over our bodies? I fear the British stiff upper lip will prevail. I’ll keep my emotions in my head where they belong, thank you very much.
