Yay or Nay Wednesday - DAB radios

I'll freely admit I don't 'get' radios so I don't understand all the fuss about DAB. Of course I do listen to the radio - my morning alarm clock is set to radio - but what I don't get is a device that is solely a radio (no CD player, no MP3 playback!) even if it is as pretty as this Cath Kidston one or the fascination with the potential to listen to dozens upon dozens of stations. The pause and rewind functions of this model do interest me though. It's a bit like Sky+ for radiowaves.

So, does the new breed of solely DAB radios attract you? Or are you only if DAB is in addition to other features? Yay or Nay and why?

Last week I asked you about the Blackberry and you said nay - part of the reasoning being the pricing plans which you felt were too high.

Nay,

I either listen to the radio in the car on the way somewhere, where it's background music, or we use an internet "all 80's hits" station for parties.

Tried DAB at home, coverage may have improved but it was only so so in my house, so the friend got it back after a day. Don't get me wrong I don't live out in the sticks I live less than 20 miles as the crow flies from Broadcasting house in London, and I can in theory get half the DAB stations, but in practice I got 4 or 5.

Almost like the apple TV it offers nothing more to me than I alreay have and in fact for me less. I know it can offer more channels but I don't listed to all the ones on AM / FM at the moment.

A Nay if it's just a radio - my stereo comes with DAB built in, and it's quite nice to be able to get stations which I wouldn't usually on it.

I don't get having just a radio though - so a yay for when it has other features, but a nay for radio-only.

mine was a yay btw, i was just being flippant.

listening to the 6music breakfast show starts my day off in a good mood, as opposed to listening to any other fm breakfast show, which puts me in a bad mood.

i also use our 'bug' to record the specialist shows from radio 1, and transfer them to my ipod for my boring commute to work.

Yay! I got a Pure One (in pink, naturally), for my birthday last year and I love it. I'm totally addicted to 6 Music and BBC 7 and my DAB lets me listen to them without having to turn my computer on. I can't remember the last time I bought an actual, physical CD and my computer and iPod have mp3s covered, so any other features would be unneccessary. Pausing, rewinding and recording would be the only things that could make by DAB better.
