Now at first glance, this is brilliant.
How often does your phone konk out right at the crucial moment? You’re walking down the high street, and you get as far as “Hi darling, I’ll meet you in five minutes at – ” when you hear the heart-sinking bleat of a dying battery.
It doesn’t need to be like this! The wind-up phone charger from the Gadget Shop uses elastic potential energy stored in a spring you wind up, to convert kinetic energy into electrical energy for long enough to finish the call (and make a few more on the way to meet ‘darling’).
The only shame is that it’s bigger than your phone. It’d be worthwhile paying a lot more for a slimline one that doesn’t look as much like a child’s toy. (Phone companies out there: Hint hint…) Still, it’s so cheap that I’d get one anyway, and use the extra cash to buy a bigger handbag.
