Coinciding with the release of the new Spiderman movie, the Wowee Spidersapien makes Spidey-type noises, makes web-slinging gestures, and swings from curtain to curtain to try to save Dancing Princesses Barnie. (I meant Barbie... Then again, who am I to say what gender Spidersapien is?) We'll also see the Homersapien, a creepily muscular-looking version of Homer that nonetheless guzzles beer and exclaims in the predictable fashion. (Guess what movie the Homersapien is coming out for?) This seems to herald a whole new kind of weird in movie promotion, though one doesn't have to go far back into childhood to find instances of the toys being better than the movie. (Though the Dune board game was nowhere near as cool as Dean Stockwell's scenery chewing.) Prices TBA. [GT]
