Samsung were the first to bring out a Bluray player last year, and still maintain theirs is the best around. This second generation number has a few tweaks, although sadly no tweaks on the price announced (bearing in mind LG's announcement this morning regarding their Bluray/HD-DVD player hybrid, this might be something they need to look at). Samsung was bigging up its "Hollywood Quality Video" processor (i.e. as good as the ones that film production companies use), while it also has beefed-up networking capabilities, with both Ethernet and HDMI connections.
The company was also keen to emphasise the player's backwards compatibility with DVDs and CDs, and the fact that it's been designed to look swish when paired with one of Samsung's 65 series of LCD TVs. The previous model cost £820 in the UK, so expect a similar price.
