Nokia confirmed our ruminations that the N800 next generation internet tablet was in the offing and here is is. It has some new features and the silver chrome design is certainly an improvement on its predecessor, the 770.
Like the 770 it sill has WiFi or a mobile phone connection for web access and features include an RSS reader, email client and camera but it does now have a much better full screen QWERTY keyboard for finger typing though we'd still rather see a full pop out version.
Skype users will be pleased that they can make VoIP calls on the N800 whilst music lovers get music download service Rhapsody and you can also get Navicore satellite navigation software.
As its an open source Linux based operating system, there is the potential for third party applications to be created for the tablet and the company are encouraging developers to do just that so it'll be interesting to see what add-ons they come up with.
Current price is 400 Euros (roughly £250) and Nokia have teamed up with UK Wi-Fi provider The Cloud to offer a month’s worth of free wireless web access to N800 owners.
