Take an LED and lighting mechanism, embed in wax, and you've got a goofy little trompe d'oeil. While most candles are indeed self-destructive, most, unlike the Self-Destructo Candle, don't last for 50 hours first (or indefinitely if you replace the battery). Or, if the blackout lasts that long (you're in Alaska, say) you can flip it over and light the traditional wick. $37 (for which price you could get the LED Tea Lights I've seen at craft stores at £1 each, a box of wax candles, and make a dozen of these things yourself in any colour you like).
