Yahoo Messenger is to blame for a significant proportion of the hours I will never get back in my life, along with Google Chat, MSN Messenger and Skype (why can't friends just agree on an IM service?). And now, WebEx have joined in the Yahoo fun by producing a extra bit of geekery which allows you to show your IM buddy round a site, rather than having to send a link over and browse independently.
The easiest way to explain it is thus: you know when you mess up your computer, and your IT manager takes control of it remotely, and all of a sudden it looks like it's possessed, and your mouse cursor is flying all over the place? Yes? It's like that. So, you can point out things you want your buddy to buy you, any really embarrassing photos, or even draw their attention to a particularly pertinent philosophical debate.
