If your holiday wish for a bubbling fountain of cheer isn't granted this year, you might think about having a "Be Open" bottle opener or two around for holiday party back-up. These $10 openers ($25 if you want to splurge on the stainless steel option) can open any "crown cap" style bottle (such as those for which you'd normally employ a church key), with a press and lift motion.
It's no Panto show, but it may just be entertaining enough to distract your guests from the fact that you aren't serving the really good stuff. At the very least, it's a far more impressive option than banging the cap off using the edge of the table.
