The SensorfreshQ is a handheld device that will analyze the "atmosphere" of your raw meat and poultry, check for bacteria, and then identify its freshness with a three level LED color system: green = safe; yellow = safe for about another day; and red = give it a pass.
I too have three levels of food freshness quality testing in my kitchen: (1) if it looks spoiled, I don't eat it (2) if it smells spoiled, I don't eat it and (3) if it tastes spoiled, I don't eat it. This may not be an ideal method of testing food freshness, but I have been eating successfully my whole life, and I haven't been brought down by bad meat or poultry yet. And I don't have to shell out an additional $10 every few months for new sensors.
