I love watches that don't just consist of a big hand and little hand. In fact, I've been documenting that very fact, and the consequent downfalls over on the Shiny Forum. This is another one of them, this time from Fossil, and true to form I want it now. The only slight problem is that I've never really understand what Americans mean when they say "It's three of five". Is it three to five? Is it three past five? Is it midnight? However, despite this drawback, I want it because a) it's designed by architect Frank Gehry, b) it switches between a positive and negative display according to whether it's day or night. Can't say I know anyone that would use the phrase "3 of 5" here anyway (here being NY).
I hear the phrase "quarter of five" occasionally still (meaning 4:45).
