We've all had those awkward moments - bad date, uncomfortable family gatherings, parties that have proved to be a dud - where we wished our phone would ring and offer an excuse for us to whisk ourselves away to more exciting times. (Of course, I've never had that happen with you. You are special to me, and I naturally value all the time we spend together.) Most of us rely on Fate to save us - but the Popularity Dialer is a web service looking to step in in case Fate fails you. Users can schedule a pre-recorded call to come at a designated time. There are four call options, all of which provide 1/2 of a conversation, allowing you to fill in believable responses: the original popularity call, the popularity call (female), the affirmation call,
& the boss call. (I could listen to the affirmation call all day.)
The service is currently only allowing 5 free calls to any number due to their own costs. So until they find funding, you'll have to limit your fake popularity to very special occassions. (Well no, not you. I know you're actually popular. Just listen to the affirmation call, he knows you got it going on.)
