Those of you who use an Oyster Card or any other Smart Card device loaded with piles of your own lovely money should probably add this to your list of things to be paranoid about. Apparently, it's all too easy for evil skimmers to swipe your card details, complete with that aforementioned lovely money so that they can make day trips into central London whenever the mood takes them - gratis. US passports now come with the same RFID technology as well, so if you want to be totally sure that you're not being skimmed, these Hello Kitty card covers are designed to block the signals. Presumably, that also means you'll have to take your Oyster card out of your wallet every time you use it, which is a pain - but what price peace of mind, eh? Currently only available in Japan I'm afraid.
