One Minute Review: Intempo Buddy - Pink GPS for girls

Comments (6)

Remember that pink Buddy GPS unit designed especially for girls by Intempo Digital (the company responsible for those lovely Matthew Williamson DAB radios)? Well, we got hold of one to review and sent our resident Fashion Editor, Gemma, off to Bournemouth to test it out. Here's a little one minute review she recorded for us, in which she talks about her experiences, hopes and dreams (and what she thought of the Buddy).

Intempo rang to say that you CAN actually bend the stand for this, though that doesn't seem immediately obvious because it's a very stiff. I would never have guessed that from looking at it - and neither did Gemma and her friends.

My wife asked me to buy one of these for her, and i found your review whilst reading up about it. have to say you've cheered up my sunday;this is the funniest thing i've seen for a long time... you can tell this site's made for ladies by ladies! Fancy not knowing you can bend a goose neck!!! Even the wife would work that one out for herself! Keep up the good work girls ha ha!

The stand is quite a solid looking bit of kit and takes a good bit of force to bend it for the first time. Nothing in the manual I had explained this is what you do (even the pictures show it straight).

The last thing I wanted to do was attempt to bend it, break it in half and have to explain myself to the lovely folks at Intempo who'd so generously loaned it out to me.

So I may not have worked out how to bend a bit of plastic but I'm not as blonde as I seem, I promise.

"Even the wife"?! I'm sure your wife would be charmed that you think so highly of her intelligence, though that probably says more about you and your own insecurities than anything else. Still, we're glad to have brightened up your day - you must have scant few laughs in your life if this is the funniest thing you've seen for a long time.

OK
Contacted Intempo due to problems with the software. They dont warrenty the software - despite post codes being missing and invalid directions. They told me to contact Destinator - the version of the software on the Intempo is well out of date. Destinator want over £160 for a new software version but they havent one for this device. Intempo have no plans to make another version of the Buddy. In other words it was a gimmic. Took mine back to Argos and got a full refund as it was not fit for purpose and they agreed that. A damming conclusion the shop I went to sold 300 of them before christmas and they have refunded all of them.

i am on the verge of buying the Intempo Buddy, but am concerned about the above comment that the maps are out of date. Does anyone know if they have been updated?
