Matchstick garden
"Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?" "Duh, via matchsticks." she replied.
Each cardboard matchstick (or tube, as they're more traditionally known) is preloaded with either a wildflower or herb concoction, which you simply stick in the ground and sprinkle a bit of water on. Wait for the sun, and before long, you'll have either a riot of colour/a fragrant yet functional patch. Delete as appropriate.
