Egg Cuber
Alright ladies and gents, I'm having a bit of a head-scratch over this innocuous looking kitchen-gadget. It's not that I don't know what it is; I do. It's an Egg Cuber, designed to take your average hard-boiled egg and squash it into a square shape. My confusion is why anyone would want to. Is it to make breakfast more stack-able? Create a surreal dining experience? Do something tres moderne with your potato salad for the next company picnic?
If you're in the know about the mysteries of the square-shaped egg (or just like to force your food into unnatural geometrical shapes), you can pick this up for just under $3 from The Gadget Source.

I am a proud owner of an egg cuber and it's goodness. It's not practical, slow to use, and doesn't alter the taste of the egg. But it makes you feel like God. And that's why I like it.

I've heard they can be used for competitive eaters to stack their eggs so they can just be grabbed quicker.
Seems like it's been around longer than competitive eating though.

It would mean it fits in lunch boxes better I suppose. And in sandwiches for all those retentive types who need to have things perfect.
Maybe it's for the Hobbycraft types who make dining an ART - you know, all edible decorations in odd shapes etc.
Or maybe it's for people who also like their crusts cut off - maybe the roundness of an egg makes it taste different. Although I suspect it may have something to do with people not wanting to remember that what they're eating came out of a chicken's bottom. It's like burgers - if you make them look nothing like a dead animal then people are more likely to eat it.
I bet it works well in sushi style Japanese nibbles and snacks.

How else are you supposed to get a square egg? It's not like they come like that in nature.

The Japanese can make star, hearts, and bear shaped eggs ;)
