So, now I've got hold of a Nintendo DS Lite, what games have I been playing? Well, Animal Crossing, of course, which has to be one of the nicest ways to waste hours of your life doing nothing much in particular I've ever encountered. Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney is just engaging enough to keep me playing against my better judgement and I'm currently witholding my verdict (geddit?!) until I've done some more extensive research on it (ie. I'm using it as an excuse to skive off work).
And then there's Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training , which launches in the UK today.
The game is a strange beast: : take those puzzle books you buy for holidays, minus the word searches, stick it on a Gameboy DS and add in the notion that if you play it regularly you'll get smarter, and you have it down to a tee. Like a techno Gillian McKeith, Brain Training laughs at my current brain age of 38 (I was tired, ok?), and tells me I can reach the magical age of 20 again if I keep up the Gameboy diet.
And maybe I will too. With a brilliantly implemented Sudoku section, and many tests that have you shouting the answers aloud, it really does give your brain a run for its money. Not something you'll want to play on the train or bus though - unless you're happy to shout "red! blue! green! red!" out loud on public transport. UK Prices | Nintendo page.

I'm so pleased you've entered the wonderful wide world of DS! I think I need rehab, I'm so addicted to Animal Crossing. What do you think of Tom Nook? I can't wait until the new Super Mario Bros game comes out on DS, I'm jonesing for a mushroom fix...
If you think yelling out 'Red! Blue! Red!' etc on the bus was bad, imagine playing Nintendogs on the tube. 'Lacey-dog, Laaacey-dog! Sit! Siiiit! Good puppy!' - needless to say I attracted many strange looks.
i have the new super mario bros for my ds, and may i say it is quite addicting, but not as addicting as animal crossing!!!!
