This almost seems too crazy to be real, but if you plug one of these Marantz WEAVE music players into an electricity socket in your house, you can transmit and listen to music in any room - saving you the hassle of running new cables or setting up a wireless network. It accesses your home entertainment set-up, allowing you to listen to radio stations, CD players and any other component plugged into the main system. Up to six of the ZC4001 receptor units can be plugged in at any one time and you'll also need a WEAVE amplifier or receiver which transmits audio signals to every room in the house when it's plugged in.
An intriguing idea - I'm looking forward to trying it out when review samples arrive in the UK. I'd be interested to know what sort of sound quality this offers (the blurb claims it's CD quality) and whether interference from other electrical devices occurs (again, the blurb claims this isn't a problem). The Receiver and ZC4001 together will cost you £700 and you can buy extra 4001s to add to the network for £200 each.
