USB Powered Disco Dance Floor

Comments (2)

UsbdiscofloorSir Edmund Hillary is said to have scaled Mt. Everest, "because it was there."  But why did Clint Rutkas  feel compelled to build a USB powered, disco dance floor?  According to the monkey see, monkey build website,  "because it is "damn cool,"  he believes that, "dance floor = women," and, perhaps most importantly, "it is an excuse to buy a saw and a lot of power tools."

I  can't verify the veracity of any of his inspirations, (although it's true that I (a) am a woman and (b) like to dance) but I do respect his DIY resolve. And if you're going to abuse your USB port for something entirely ridiculous and frivolous, what could be better than a disco dance floor?  (Except, perhaps, a disco dance floor that incorporates sensors nad video games...which Clint mentions he plans on adding to the next incarnation.)  You can check out more pictures and video of the floor in action at monkey see, monkey build. -[Star C.
