Sir Edmund Hillary is said to have scaled Mt. Everest, "because it was there." But why did Clint Rutkas feel compelled to build a USB powered, disco dance floor? According to the monkey see, monkey build website, "because it is "damn cool," he believes that, "dance floor = women," and, perhaps most importantly, "it is an excuse to buy a saw and a lot of power tools."
I can't verify the veracity of any of his inspirations, (although it's true that I (a) am a woman and (b) like to dance) but I do respect his DIY resolve. And if you're going to abuse your USB port for something entirely ridiculous and frivolous, what could be better than a disco dance floor? (Except, perhaps, a disco dance floor that incorporates sensors nad video games...which Clint mentions he plans on adding to the next incarnation.)
