Ultra-mini (not that kind of mini) air supply

Ep225_05a1_dtWe may have broken the speed of sound, but that just means we're carting sealed canisters swarming with billions of bacteria from one corner of our flat earth to the other at super-speed.  If you've ever emerged in the City of Lights with a light colony of evil infesting your sinuses, you'll want to check out the Ultra-Mini Air Supply for £129 at Magellan's (another product on similar lines to the Portable Oxygen Bar).  They say it "substantially reduces pollutants, dust, smoke, pollens, bacteria, and odours floating in the air, so fresh air is released to your mouth, nose and eyes."  Though you always want to be careful with products that "ionize", because some of them actually increase indoor air pollution - they create smog (more info overleaf).

True ionic purifiers emit small amounts of ozone as a byproduct, but at safe levels.  However, purifiers based on ozonolysis (which sometimes brand themselves as ionic, and that's where the trouble comes in - so research, research, research) can increase the ozone in the area to dangerous levels, which is particularly bad for people who have respiratory conditions. So that brand-new purifier might, ironically, just be making your asthma or allergies worse.

Regarding the AirSupply, Armchair World notes:

We have been using the Air Supplytm for over seven years and swear by it. If you are a frequent flier, an allergy sufferer or are around sick, coughing people, the Air Supply will help to reduce the level of airborne pollens, viruses and contaminants in your breathing zone and in doing so, help you to avoid getting ill.  If that's true, that's a gadget well worth having. Just don't expect it to cure your asthma.  [GT]
