Pushing a stroller around the neighborhood is great exercise, particularly if you've got a kid riding inside providing ballast (because honestly, pushing an empty stroller around is a bit weird). Parents and babysitters interested in monitoring just how effective these constitutionals are for their health can strap the Strollometer to the stroller in order to measure such factors as their speed (current, max and average), the distance travelled, the ambient temperature, their trip time and the actual time.
I'm not certan how this differs from a pedometer, other than the fact that it is seems to measure stroller wheel rotations rather than physical steps. What I am certain about is that this is a gift for new or expectant mothers to purchase for themselevs. Giving it as a shower gift would be akin to saying, "Psst...you're putting a few pounds on there. Best get to walking." And no one likes to hear that. The Strollometer won't be available until mid-September, but various retailers are taking pre-orders now.
