The Laser Turntable: keeping records alive for longer

TrackBacks (1)

Text Being an audiophile is one of those rare hobbies, that, despite the '-phile' suffix, actually has the potential to be quite cool. And this Laser Turntable will elevate you straight to Coolest Audiophile in the World status.

It works by using digital technology to 'read' the record, playing it without a stylus ever touching the surface. This not only prevents wear on the record, but also means you can play those that have sat too close to the radiator and the ones stored at the back of the garage - warping is no match for this player.  In fact, it's so similar to a CD player, it even comes with a remote so you can pause or scan the tracks.

At $15,000 it's not cheap, so is clearly reserved for those that appear regularly on 'The Fabulous Life of...'. It's also only available Japan and North America, but if you're the kind of person that drives a customised Hummer, I can't see that standing in your way.
