Zip Hydrotap

ZiphydrotapSay goodbye to your kettle because Zip's Hydrotap is a rather nifty faucet. At the touch of a button it'll dispense boiling water for your hot drinks or freshly filtered chilled aqua. Apparently the plumbing is pretty easy so you could have it anywhere in your kitchen so long as there is pipe access.

For a tap I think it's rather elegant. Plus it is energy efficient, has a sleep-mode, filters out the nasties (we won't go into what goes into the Thames) and includes a boiling water saftey lock for the clumsy. £1,997 (50% of which goes to the person who called it 'hydrotap' rather than 'water tap' - I just made up this rumour and it is entirely untrue. I hope). [Camilla Chafer]

£1,997?!?! Wow. These have been available state-side for many years in the $400-500 (£800-1000) range... not as stylish, but just as functional at a fraction of the price.
