Portable Solar Panel Gadget Charger

MaplinecopanelI've never had much luck with getting solar powered chargers to work (yes, yes, I know that "solar powered" and "english weather" are mutually exclusive), but since I'm a bit that way inclined, this is just the kind of thing I vigorously applaud. If Maplin Electronics' Scotty personal solar charger actually works, it would be very handy indeed. It clips onto your clothes or bag allowing it to bask in the sunlight as you travel about, charging your iPods and other portable gadgetry on the go. If the claims are correct, a full charge from Scotty will provide enough energy for one hour's mobile phone talk time or 60 hours standby.

And if you want a bit more power than a little panel like this can provide, there are also larger panels available, providing 5, 10, 18 28, 43 and 60-watt outputs - enough to power your laptop or portable DVD player. You can use them for your in-car sat nav systems as well - or even hook them up to your house lamps if you want to get really eco-friendly.

The Scotty personal solar charger costs £34.99 while the larger solar panel kits start at £69.99.

I did not expect much when i bought my Portable Solar Panel Gadget Charger however it passed all expectations. It even works well under the poor light conditions in the UK! I should have bought one years ago!
