bCODE - No more forgotten tickets!
Well, unless you're good at leaving your mobile behind...
A lot of us will already be familiar with the Orange Wednesdays 2-4-1 film offer, where you receive a text with a unique code allowing you to get one film ticket free. Australia's bCODE go one step further, transferring all types of ticketing into a code in a normal text message.
The code is recognised and read off by a dedicated reader (above-left), allowing speedy entry to films or games. It allows only one entry, and is sent to you in an encrypted form which is supposed to be safer than sending paper tickets through the post. Luckily, should you forget your phone, or should it run out of battery - you can just contact bCODE and get your ticket re-issued. Also, distribution of tickets to friends becomes a lot easier when all you have to do is text them. However I think a real paper ticket is often a nicer souvenier of a good game or gig for example, than a code in a text message. [Sara Wallen]
