As a gadget-lover, I fully support the blending of technology with the mundane; but I just can't get behind the Tidy Typist No. 2; a table cloth with a keyboard woven directly into the fabric. Its lovely, lace retro design calls to mind simpler, more well-mannered times; when dinner conversation wasn't constantly interrupted by mobile calls and SMS messages. I say let's leave the gadgets out of the dining room.
On the other hand, it could be quite useful in (if a bit fancy for) the office, especially for those of us who lunch at our desks and are forever sweeping out keyboard crumbs. This keyboard, at least, is washable. -[Star C. Foster]
