Hard to believe that T-Mobile is launching a phone that's been around for so long, but while US customers have been enjoying the delights of the Sidekick II for ages, the handset (also known as the Hiptop II) has never been officially released over in the UK. Paris Hilton is a big fan of the emailer handset, as are countless other celebrity types, and despite being an organiser/smartphone, it's likely to appeal to the youth audience thanks to a neat little pop up screen design and AIM features. I had a trial with one of these a while back, and while I liked the screen trick and the browser, it struck me as a bit beefy for a young UK audience who are more concerned with texting than with email and AIM on their phones. But the theory over on Tech Digest is that the launch of this old handset is simply to pave the way for the third version.
