PingAlert anti-bullying system

TrackBacks (1)

Screen2In conjunction with the national anti-bullying week, KidsOK has launched its latest mobile phone system to help protect our nation's young from the blight of bullying. It's a simple concept, just pop the special number into your speed-dial and the phone will link up to the KidsOK service. This immediately sends an SMS to the parent's phone with a map showing the child's exact location. Either that or an anxious parent can send a text which will be answered with the location data, without bothering the child. The location has to be calculated from phone mast data which means it won't be enormously precise, but it does provide an outline covering a reasonably small area (as per the pic). You'll also have to make sure you've got GPRS and WAP enabled on your phone, and neither Virgin nor 3 support the service. A year's subscription, PingAlert for three mobiles and 10 free pings will cost £39.95. Subsequent pings cost an extra 50 pence.
