I got very eggcited at this cracking invention on display at the British Invention Show. The Egg is a "self-contained, automated massage treatment pod" that you can pop into for a 15 minute spa treatment whenever you're feeling a little stressed. Apparently, Brits are shy of taking off their togs for a massage and The Egg solves that problem by working through your clothes. Lie down on the bed, press a button and the treatment begins. The lights dim to little star-like dots, relaxing music begins to play and aromatherapy oils are wafted about. Meanwhile, gentle vibrations in the bed replace human hands, making it perfect for uptight types. And it's not just for prudish sorts - these things would be great for anyone in a hurry, and anyone wanting a little chill out time on their own. They've been designed for spas, health clubs, hotels and workplaces, but I reckon they'd do pretty well in shopping malls and supermarkets as well. I want one.
