Sling Box
Apparently, someone at Sling Media decided that people were just too darn productive, so they created the Sling Box, a gizmo that allows you to watch programs from your TV on a computer anywhere in the world. And by your TV they mean your TV (or Tivo or DVR) - the one in your home - which the Sling Box will allow you to access, control and view on your computer monitor via a high-speed internet connection. On the one hand, this is pretty nifty - but on the other, I think perhaps society's addicition to television might be a bit out of control if we can't leave the telly behind when we leave the house. (However, I'll recind that if I can find a way to convince my boss that my watching Lost at my desk is an appropriate and necessary use of company time.) - [Star C. Foster]
Available for $249.99 from Sling Media. (Currently only available in North America - but Sling Media promises PAL and other format support is on the way.) (via Gizmos for Geeks)
