At last, a way to inflict holiday snaps on unsuspecting family and friends almost instaneously. Kodak has announced the EASYSHARE-One, a wi-fi enabled digital camera. Unlike Nikon's wi-fi camera offering which requires the user to be within 30 meters of their target computer, the EASYSHARE-ONE allows the roaming shutterbug to email or upload thier photos to the Kodak EASYSHARE gallery from compatible networks and hotspots all over the world. The camera can also be used to view photos in other people's EASYSHARE galleries.
In addition to its wireless capabilities, the EASYSHARE-ONE is equipped with a 3-inch, rotating LCD screen; 256 megs of internal memory, and the ability to organize your photos into albums while they're still stored on the camera.
I've a holiday abroad coming up, and I've been trying to puzzle out the best way to manage the zillion of snaps I plan to take. (Stock up on memory cards? Lug about a laptop for daily transfers? Hope for an internet cafe that won't mind my USB cable?) Being able to upload my pictures to an exterior server while on the go would be a great boon. (After all, I wouldn't want anyone to miss the chance to see me making funny faces in front of landmarks of historical import.) Sadly, although it'll be availble in the UK in early October, there's no mention when it'll be availble stateside. (Which means everyone on my photo-sharing email list can give a huge sigh of relief.) -[Star C. Foster]
