As if going to the office and going to the gym weren't torturous enough on their own, Dr. James Levine of the Mayo Clinic has combined these events by designing a cubicle that replaces the traditionally lopsided rolling office chair with a treadmill. Apparently there's some concern that sitting on our duffs all day might not be healthy. Who knew?
I certainly could benefit from eight hours of walking a day, but you'll only catch me on one of these if I can ditch my pumps and start wearing sweats and trainers to the office.
Levine's design is not yet commercially available; but at an estimated $1,000 a station, I don't expect it will be long before these start showing up in the offices of trendy executives. - [Star C. Foster]
