Water Powered Clock

Water_powered_clockOk, so it's not water-into-wine, but water-into-power is a pretty nifty trick too; especially if you're a clock. Feed The Water Powered Clock some water, coffee, soda or other liquid and through some strange alchemy I don't quite grasp it will provide you with the time and leave a useful empty space in your no-doubt overtaxed powerstrip. $12.99 from Think Geek and totally nifty. - [Star C. Forget me not Panties

Forgetme_notRight, you can all stop sending me these Forget-Me-Not-Panties now - they are officially a load of old nappy contents. The modern day chastity pants were supposed to contain GPS tracking technology and heat sensors that allowed parents, partners and peverts the opportunity to find out where their be-knickered ladyfriend was and whether she was getting a little too hot under the underwear. This lady for one will be relieved to hear that the panties are all just part of a big ruse to get lots of hits for a competition. I'm guessing it worked.

Toshiba's Qosmio G20

Toshg20Toshiba's Qosmio G20 is supposed to be a whole lot more than just a standard old laptop. Featuring Toshiba's "4-in-1 experience", it offers TV, Audio, a DVD/HDD Recorder and PC features. There's some neat specifications and features on board, including a mobile Intel Pentium M processor and 1GB of RAM as well as a large 17-inch display. But as well as all those normal computer features, it also lets you watch and record TV onto the hard drive without having to boot the machine up first. Handy if you want to skive off work and watch a film.

Pink Jabra Headset for Breast Cancer

Jabra_earwave_boom_pinkHow long before these special pink edition Breast Cancer gadgets become more high tech equivalents of these charity wristbands, with people paying ridiculous sums just to get hold of them? Not long surely. But in the meantime, let's just be glad that there are people out there who are so concerned for the safety of our jubblies that they're willing to donate $1 to breastcancer.org for the first 15,000 Pink Jabra EarWave Boom corded mobile phone headsets sold. They're being sold exclusively at Sprint Stores nationwide in the US for an RRP of $29.99.

Sexy Knickers for Your Mobile

Cellthong_1
Whereas "genuine leather," an "adjustable strap," "versitile wearing and design options," and the ability to use the "vibrate feature" are all excellent characteristics to look for when shopping for a thong, they're not the attributes I'd ever considered when trying to find a convenient place to stash my mobile. Until now.

Behold The Phone Thong, which for $19.95 offers women a way to carry their mobiles without the need for pocket, purse nor propriety.

This bit of tat is too tarty for my taste (especially since I can't stand the thought of my mobile having racier underthings than me), but if you're made of wilder stuff, you can pick it up from Cell Power. [Star C. Foster]

The Enigma Fan

I can't quite make up my mind about The Enigma Fan from Fanimation.

FanimationenigmafanOn the one hand, the single-blade design with the uplights does give it a sleek, futuristic look appropriate to the more modern, minimalistic decor; especially in the satin nickel finish. On the other hand, the single-blade design also gives it the sharp, unsettling look appropriate to the more modern abattoir; especially in the satin nickel finish.

(And you won't sway me by pointing out that it appeared I, Robot either, because most of what I remember about Dectective Spooner's apartment is related to his shower.)

In the end, I think I'd quite like this fan in my own home; but I'd put it over the guest bed so folks could be simultaneously impressed by my contemporary tastes and yet too intimidated by the 60" blade smoothly rotating over their head to overstay their welcome. - [Star C. Foster]

Tomy Toys you can control by phone

Tomy
Yes, you really can use the infrared on your mobile to control these little plastic playthings from Tomy. Apparently, the toys - which are being launched in Japan - are being aimed at teenage high school girls. If Tomy every brings them to the UK, they'd be advised to do the same since it's the teenage girls in Britain having all the babies at the moment.

iGuy - Daft iPod Case

IguyLet's face it, your iPod is pretty sure of itself: it knows it's cooler than you, and everyone else around it for that matter. So teach it a lesson by dressing it in this get up, turning your oh-so-trendy white monument to minimalism into a goofy iGuy with arms, legs and an added key holding menial task facility. That'll learn it. There's currently a model for the standard sized iPods, but a mini is apparently on its way later in the month. It's yours for $34.95 from here.

Sony NW-HD5 now on sale in UK

Sony_nw_hd5_3I'm rather partial to Sony's Network Walkman range, so I was very near punching the air with pent up excitement when I heard that the latest in the family, the NW-HD5, has finally gone on sale in the UK. Your best price currently looks like £183.99 from Amazon, which makes the 20GB more than £6 cheaper than its equivalent iPod. It's also smaller than its rivals and and offers an impressive thirty hours of MP3 playback before the battery dies. It's available in silver, black and red.

Robo Lawnmowers

Evolution400_1A little bit of sunshine hits and I'm suddenly full of the joys of late Spring, attempting to do cartwheels in the park and sustaining groin injuries. So while I'm busy doing that, it would be nice to know there's a Robots and Relax Evolution robo-mower back at home keeping my lawn all trim ready for my crippled return. As well as keeping your lawn to the correct height at all times, this red mower will also pop back home to its base station when its batteries are running low or when it feels the heavens open.

Creative Neeon

Creative_zenIf you've been holding out on purchasing an MP3 player due to their lack of customizability - prepare to fire-up your earbuds. With it's 5 gig hardrive, USB 2 compatability and 16 hours of playtime, the Creative Zen Neeon is pretty standard on the inside - but outside, it's your party. The Neeon comes in 10 different body colors, offers 7 backscreen color options, and there are 16 different decorative face-sticker styles available; allowing you to play MP3 dress-up all day. - [Star C. Turn Your Phone into Flash Drive

Phonebookflashdrive_1
If only you could use this little dongle to turn your mobile into an actual USB Flash Drive - that way you could transfer all your photos and tunes and save all manner of other stuff simply by plugging the phone into your computer. Unfortunately, the Phonebook Flash Drive is purely for transferring the contents of your phonebook (both phone and SIM info) onto your computer. It's still a neat idea - that way you can edit your addressbook and also keep a copy backed up on your computer - but going the whole hog would have made it perfect for these new music phones and hard drive phones that are beginning to crop up. Available for Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson for $20.50.

iMuffs - Wireless iPod Headphones

Imuffopen1I'm a big fan of ear muffs, so I've spent more than a fair portion of my adult life being sniggered at while grown men shout "Oi! Nice muff!" at me from across the street. The sad thing is, each one truly believes that he's the first one to have ever thought of the gag. But, stoic that I am, I live with the torment through the winter months. Still, even I have to concede that the word "muff" is intrinsically funny, which is why I'm so glad that these iMuffs exist in the world. Bluetooth lets you hook up to your iPod without involving any wires and you can sync it with your mobile to make and take calls as well.

Samsung_fashion_blueblackSamsung's SPH-V6900 "Blueblack" phone has just been launched at a fashion show over in Korea. The phone was incorporated into the KUHO show, a women's fashion label that apparently has a "brand image [that] is well in line with Samsung phones". What that means precisely, I've no idea, but I do know that the lady in the front looks a bit sulky at having to hold the phone up.

Solar Powered Handbag

Solarpower_handbag_2Not quite big enough to stuff your laptop into, but there should be room in this handbag for all your other tech gear, including mobile phone, PDA and music player. As to whether there's enough (decent) weather in the UK to actually power anything via the solar panel remains to be seen. But in my experience english sunshine doesn't cut the mustard so this one's strictly from our more sunkissed gadget-loving cousins. They're available for import if anyone fancies buying a job lot.

Toothpaste dispensing toothbrush

Presto_1Of course, my initial reaction - as with everything in life - was to scoff at this OHSO toothpaste-producing toothbrush, but on second thoughts I've decided I'd rather like one. Fill it full of your favoured brand and turn the bottom knob until the paste appears out on the bristles. I was all excited at the potential for a pastey chaos with all that tube squeezing, but apparently the brush has been designed to suck the paste from the tube without any interference from humankind. I don't know, all that time spent evolving opposable thumbs and we go and render them obsolete. Three varieties are available: MARKO, PRESTO and DIVO

iPod Bags

Ipodbag_1And there was me thinking I'd finally found a use for my pockets other than their being a place to stash tissues which I later forget to remove before washing. Alas, I was wrong. No longer can we put our iPods safely in coat or jeans pockets. Not now there's a perfectly good excuse to buy a new bag. Delapod Bags (shown is 'Gilmore' for $69) come in various shapes and colours and have plastic pockets in the back for easy access to your iPod controls. A huge 'Mug Me' sign is not included, but lets face it, you won't need one.[Gemma Cartwright]

High Way Laptop Bags

Hwlaptop_1My laptop finally arrived on Friday, and now I'm on a mission. Since I decided to forego the free (and very naff) carry case and get a groovy wireless gadget instead, I now need a nice laptop bag. If this metallic High Way bag were a couple of inches bigger, it would be making its way to my grubby mits right about now. It screams 'look at me and my shiny new laptop'. For those less willing to advertise themselves to muggers, it also comes in black. The bag is $162 from Luna Boston. [Gemma Cartwright]
