With this vacuum cleaner less really is more: it's bag-less, wheel-less and, thanks to the hover-craft style air-filled cushion, virtually weightless. When it comes to cleaning, the less we have to do the better, so we're certainly not complaining (although we'd still rather have someone else to do it for us). The Airider vacuum cleaner is available online and from QVC in the coming weeks, and on the high street in the new year. Priced at around £199 - £249.

Er, wouldn't the air cushion you know, blow away all that dirt you wanted to vacuum up?
Next up: The liquid-cooled toaster!
This concept has been around for over 30 years it is in no way new.

Nice Vacuum, too bad Hoover produced hovering vacuums in the 60's. I still have one, called Constellation. anyways here is the link if anyone cares to see one.

had one to test about 2 months ago - maybe old idea but works really, really well. didn't get a chance to try it on shag-pile though, that's maybe where it will come unstuck ( scuse pun ).
Hey Everyone
I never said we were the first hovering vacuum but i beleive we are the best.
About the dust we have a air-deflector moulding around the base and you can throw baby powder next to it and it will not blow it away.
I believe you should get one and test it against whatever you use and i think you will be suprised on the results.
We at airrider will always try to do what the consumer demands you have my word on it.

Read about this in today's Washington Post. Says it is not available for serveral weeks? I would like the specs on this vacuum as I want to make a purchase and have no info on it's power or attachments, etc.
Excuse me, but would the "cushion of air" created underneath the vacuum greatly depleat the strength of the vacuum's suction? And how strong exactly is the aparatus on which it floats on? Just use wheels without that thing, it would save on electricity, lasts longer, make vacuuming faster (more suction), and be less exspensive. Cheers!
Where can I purchase these Airider Vacs? Are they available in USA?
Rose,
"Supposedly" they will be avaiavlable in the USA at Brookstone stores (no reference yet on brookstone.com) but someone in Utah has receieved one directly from Airider....with free shipping!

This vacuum is wonderful. More powerful than the dyson hosed model; completely weightless when switched on; nossle stretches up to the top of my 40-odd stepped stairs and is a stylish machine. Picks up all sorts of crap on all surfaces. I find myslef vacuuming a lot these days.
I wonder how it would do on thick shag carpeting? Simplyvacuums.com
I have owned this vacuum for six months, within three months the latch that holds the dustbin closed broke, shortly thereafter the belt drive on the carpet head gave out. I have contacted the manufacture on 12/6/06, 12/29/06, 1/28/07, and again on 2/23/07. I have even called Glasgow Scotland asking for help!
Each time the company has been courteous promising replacement however nothing has been forthcoming. If you check their website I am the guy from LA that gave them a glowing review (note: they removed the last paragraph from my letter which suggested they make the machine sturdier).
Machine is great; customer service is the worst I have ever seen! Personally they have lost me as a customer, I would not buy this vacuum again, ever!
