We've managed to get our hands on Motorola's V3 RAZR, so we thought we'd do a nice little review for all you lovely people out there.
If it's true you can never be too thin or too rich, then perhaps you should be spending all that money on something thin enough to be seen with, like the newly announced Motorola RAZR V3.
Out next month, it's a catwalk model among phones, anorexically just 14mm thick, and made from magnesium and aluminium, so it's light and tough. Motorola stresses that it's using aircraft-grade aluminium, whatever that means in the real world, but certainly it feels great and looks even greater. There are two screens, shortcut keys for the Internet and messages (they're engraved on the metal so you can't change that), and the usual configurable softkeys.
It's only recently Motorola has got round to putting its call and end call keys in the right places - that is, like the rest of the industry - but thankfully it was in time to prevent the V3 from having a fatal flaw. Despite the fact that it has an internal antenna, there's also room for a camera (VGA with digital 4x zoom) and Bluetooth.
Price to be confirmed, but they'd be mad if they didn't charge a load for it - it's by far the most opulent phone out there (the titanium of the Nokia 8910i notwithstanding) unless you include the Vertu. And this, at least, will cost thousands less.

I just received this phone for xmas and absolutely love it. I have had the phone for only 4 days and can't put it down. So far this is what I have found.
Pros: Motorola has done a great job at the design.
Stated in an earlier comment, they placed the keys in the proper places. The laser etched keys are great. The internal display is very impressive. Compared to the V600 my wife is very envious. The sound quality is very clear. Since mobile to mobile is free nowadays I have been calling my wife and friends just to bug them and hear how well the phone sounds. The user interface on the phone is very similar to the V600 but I think that they have made some improvements.
Cons: I am a little disappointed with the camera feature on the phone. It seems like the slow shutter speed on the camera could be improved. I also had to figure out how to use the phone alot by myself. I think that the manual is on the poor side.
Wish List: Did not get any software or USB cable with the phone. I was thinking that Motorola could have made the software tools and the cable standard in the package.
Overall I am extremely pleased with my xmas present and can't wait to continue to show it off.

it apparently plays mp3 files but I have not been able to do this. other than that and the lowsey user manual the phone is the best i've seen.
Was thinking of getting the V3, but with camera and well packed extra's phones these days you need to consider memory, at only 5MB Internal memory and no option of any external memory I wouldn't buy it myself, at the moment I have a Sony Ericsson P900 which has 16MB internal storage and a 32MB external storage Memory card which comes with it, take into consideration 100 names & numbers, 50 photo's, 50 in total stored text messages sent & received. with just these items on the V3 the memory of 5mb would be heavily used up!
can someone tell me if the space key on the motorola is 0 or is it #? (when you're typing a text).
The problem with this phone is the case being made out of magnesium and aluminium. This is used on aircrafts, the thicknes of magnesium and aluminium used on aircrafts is about 9-12mm thick so it's light and strong, but on the Motorola V3 it's about (half a mm) thick so it might be light, but is it strong? it's not strong! With the plastic cased phones you can bend them and they will bend back! but if you bend magnesium and aluminium it will stay bent!. So if you have this phone do not put it in the pocket with your keys as it will dent with ease and do not! put it in the back pocket of your jeans and sit down! unless you want the phone to be the shape of your bottom!!!
Here is a simple test for you to do and it only cost £1.30 Buy a 330ML aluminium can of coke 50p and a 500ml plastic bottle of coke 80p drink the coke out of them or tip out the coke with out damaging the can and do not put the top back on the bottle! The aluminium can is an exaple of the motorola v3 and the plastic bottle is an example of your standard plastic mobile phone. Now squeez the plastic bottle firmly and let go of it! the plastic bottle should go back to it's nomal shape! now squeez the aluminium can firmly and let go of it! you will notic that it's not gone back to it's normal shape, if it does go back to it's normal shape look realy close at the aluminium can you will notic a little dent where you pushed. Thats the simple test!
will the v3 connect to other phones via the blutooth?

Your'e all missing the point! the phone looks and feels 100% better quality than 99.9% of the other mobiles available at the moment! ive had one for 2 months now and still find the handset a joy to use! ok the memory is an issue but then put both phones side by side and ask anyone to choose!!! this is without a doubt the best looking handset on the market today bar none!!
I have a new V3. The problem is our office uses Lotus notes 5.0.11 and the phone software will not syncronize the Lotus contacts unless the your system is Lotus 6.0. Now I have a new that I have to manually insert 300 names and 600 phone numbers. If anyone knows of a software that can interface with the Mobile PhoneTools Lite Version 3.11d and Lotus 5.0.11 without buying new licenses for Lotus 6.0 please let me know. If you are thinking about buying a V3, take my delemia into account.
See if you can export/sychronise from Lotus to Outlook or Outlook express, then sync your V3 with that. It's a bit of a clumsy solution, but if this workaround works, then at least it saves you your Lotus 6 licences!

Re: Lotus notes v5 -> 6. You can purchase the sofwtare and still use you Lotus Notes 5 applications (like Mail).
Also, depending on the Lotus/IBM subscription you have you may not have to purchase your upgrade to v6. Check with IBM to see what you're entitled to.
Ok, my dad just bought me the moto v3 razr and yes, it is sweet looking. but after years of using nokia fones i am not very impressed with the features. my brother has the nokia 6230 is very plain lookin but it has some kick ass features like voice recorder, video recorder, and FM radio among other things.
I'm a big text msging freak and is it just my fone or everyones razr, because there is like a 1 second or more delay in typing, and im a fast texter... its just really annoying, it being so slow! i think i'm just gonna sell ther razr and buy the nokia 7610.

It's great that the Razr sync's with a PC, bit will it sync with Macintosh version of Lotus Notes?
This is my dream phone. I love the gigantic screen, the amazing internal LCD and Bluetooth. I've had it for 2 months now, and at first I thought it might be too wide to carry, but the slim design made it an easy fit for my pocket. It takes really good pictures and the speakerphone sounds great. The only problems are that fingerprints show up really easy, the external LCD is a tad small, and the price of course is EXCESSIVE. The software that I received with the phone, Mobile PhoneTools, will not work with the phone. This seems to be a common problem when checking on the internet.
Apart from this the phone is excellent.

Anyone else have a problem where it looks like lint and/or dust is BEHIND the screen? I've only had the phone for a couple months, and the screen looks pretty bad because of it.

I just recieved this Razr V3 3 weeks ago and I have just noticed All these white lint like specks all over...I thought I had scratched the lense with my whisker stubble at first but I now see it is happening to others as well...
well i got a RAZR for christmas 2006, and the reason i wanted it is it seemed to include a MP3/music player...but i cant seem to find it, i think it dosent have one but i dunno bit sad really =(... but overall Its a FAB phone love it lots <3333 =D
Excellent Phone and excellents features. I don't complain about it and read some opinions here that make me laugh. So, I want to say something. People, don't miss the point. It's a phone, not a notebook or a camera and is unrealistic to expect it works like one with all their features. So if you need (or want) to access the web or use another programs on the go, everyday, and for a very long periods of time, I suggest you better buy a wireles notebook. And if you are an artist and expect the most excellent pictures, buy a digital camera. It's still a phone, and a very good one. By the way, I don't have an idea why someone would want to buy a cell phone to put it on his or her back jean pocket and sit on it...

Well just bought one of these phones in RAZR BLUE, really nice, happy with it, got mine from "The Link" on Pay as you go "o2" the trouble is my Screen had gone funny black dots everywhere, taken it back to the store today, gave me a new one in exchange same phone as I wanted another v3 blue, now im home the "Button number 3 keeps sticking wont work when i press it" I feel stupid having to take this phone back second day... :( anyone else had this trouble?
I just wanted to let everyone know who has a problem with the lint or the screen, yes you can open it. You have to take out the 4 sitckers on the front then there are 4 screws take them out and clean it. I wouldn't suggest doing it unless you have experience though it is hard. If you are having the problem take it to where you bought it and let the tecnichan clean it.

Well i was reading some of these comments to find some answers about my RAZR phone. && i see some people are having the same problem as me. i get the little lint crap all up in my screen. and it`s getting to the point where the phone looks really bad under sunlight. i was talkin to my uncle about it and he told me they were water stains. but i highly doubt it cause i`ve done anything to get water in it. so i`m glad i found out that i can open it. does anyone else have that problem ? But other than that i think its a pretty good phone. i love the big screen but i think the camera shutter could be better.
I've had two razr's so far. I took the first one back because of the dust behind the screen. Its annoying and I think Motorola should do something about it. I paid a ridiculous amount of money and now in the sunlight I can't see anything but dust. I do take the screen off and clean it, but I have to do it once a week now. I shouldn't have to be doing this. Does anyone know how to keep it from happening?
The RAZR V3C kicks ass. Quit hating on the Razr because you cannot simply afford one.
Um I can afford one thanks. I have had two.... I love the phone. Its the coolest phone I've ever had. Anyway, does anyone know how to keep the dust from getting inside there? I clean it about once a week now and it always comes back.
Ok all I solved the problem to the lint screen, flip the phone up first. Then look at the bottom by that think silver line around the screen. Find a exacto knife or something thin. Pop that up and it reveals the screen, this prevents from opening the screws and potentiially breaking the phone. The rest is up to you to just clean the screen now. And then just push the the part that you proped up back down. AND YOUR DONE!
This is by far the best cell phone I have ever owned.

To remove lint from Razor V3--you can pry the plastic cover off of the LCD using a pin. Be careful and move slow. There is a small gasket underneath it. Once pulled off, you can clean the LCD and the clear plastic outer cover with Windex. Take some rubber cement and seal off the edges where lint comes in from the buttons. Then put the plastic cover back on. I did this to my phone and it is lint free now.
People it doesn't play mp3s. It has the ability to play ringtones in mp3 format. Think about it. How many songs could you really put on the phone when the memory isn't but 5 MB. cmon
Uhhh...yes, actually it DOES play MP3s in high quality sound format as well...I currently have transferred almost 10 full length tracks which I use as personalized ring tones for friends, and I can also listen to them on my headset. It is not meant to be a MASS storage device for holding TONS of MP3s...but for the bus ride home or during the walk to the office, it is great to have a few MP3 tracks right there on your phone. I bought a D-LINK WIRELESS NOTEBOOK BLUETOOTH ADAPTER that came with software and installs in seconds...from there, swap ALL your files (audio, video, and pics) at the click of a button...great little gadget.
ANNNNND on another note, it still works after my daughter dropped it in the toilet last week LOL!!!

I purchaced myself the Razr phone for Christmas '05 and i paid full price cause i could not upgrade yet. Its been great but now i have all this dust also so i just called cingular and they are going to be sending me a new one because of the dust issues. I think this is a big problem with these. I will just buy the V3i or V3x now cause of iTunes and the better mega-pixel camera they have. I guess i will sell the new replacement V3 on ebay.

i just got an motorola razr v3 and its about 3 weeks old but now the screen kep blacking out and i cant use the screen but you can hear the fone i cant return it no warranty does any one know what they problem maybe and can it be fix from a shop without charging an arm and a leg
This is not about the phone itself, but about the scams out there offering a "free" phone (or other commodity) for simply filling out a bogus "survey." These seemingly "free" questionaires aren't free, and should be against the law. Furthermore, we should be threatening to boycott Motorola, Wal-Mart, Chili's and others who allow their products or services to be used as lures. One of the worst offenders is = OnlineRewards.com = but they are by no means alone in this fraud. Beware. Your e-mail box will load up with endless amounts of spam (and your phone will never stop ringing if you were foolish enough to give them that information too), but you will NEVER see that free phone.
Another version of the so-called "free" phone scam turns out to be the service provider's offer that's good only if you "sign-up" (pay money) for a minimum specified period of service AND only if you are a NEW account or user. Even if your service period has expired, they'll tell you that you are still signed up, on a month to month basis, by so-called "verbal" agreement. It's bullshit.
I love my new Motorola Razr, I rec'd the magenta razr as a gift and it's the prettiest phone ever. I had plenty of Nokias and they are great phones, but this one tops them all! :)

thanks to everyones advice to clean the lens i used a pin to take the lens off and used a cloth that you would use on glasses to get the dust out ,just be careful doing it all the time because they have only used a small amount of glue around the edge so the more you take it of the weaker it will get thanks again.
how do you delete all the pictures you've stored at once? cuz it's so annoying deleting them one at a time.. and it doesnt have an option to delete them all.

echo thanks on the screen cleaning tip - works well once you know how to do it. I've had my Razr for 6 mos and carry it in my pocket everyday - tremendous amount of lint to the point where my wallpaper was set to white so I could still see the screen.

I have 3 razr v3 and all have that problem. two of them i send to t-mobile for replacement but the 3rd one I purchased overseas. i send to motorola 1st time in jan 2006 and they cleaned it. just after few weeks it came back again( dust all over inside) this time it was send to their Indiana repair center. They send back with a note the unable to conform the problem. ( very poor quality control there i guess.) send back again, this time they conform the dust but send back without fixing saying " this phone has software for asia. problem can't be fixed here." I guess they hire landscaping pps as repair technicians at the repair center. now i know from this site how easy it is to fix the problem. Well done guys you are better then Motorola techs. They may be wondering how ppl change light bulbs by themself.All they have to do is remove the plastic cover to remove the lint. What software has to do with it. One more thing: Anyone know what kind of rubber glue to use and where to buy for a permanent fix. Thx again for everyone's input.
re: dust under razr v3. Just an add on to my previous comments. Other them dust problem. It is the only phone in the market I love own right now. excellent breakthrough design and works great too.
RE: Dust behind screen. Thanks for the exacto knife tip. I cleaned the screen last night. But it has already collected some dust. Looks like the dust is built from the lower right corner of the screen. Does anybody know how to permanently prevent the dust building? I like Razr too. But, the phone has a design or manufacturing flaw in this respect if it cannot be fixed. Then, Motorola should do something.
Good tips on cleaning the lcd, but does anyone know how to clean the key pad? Two keys aren't working and I don't have a warranty. No stores want to clean it. They say "the razrs are too sensitive to clean".
The exterior screen works on my phone intermittent. Why is this happening and what can I do? I love my phone otherwise.
On the subject of "free V3's" there is one way to actually get one. I got mine through wirefly. The promotion was a free razr and 50 cash back. so far I am having problem getting the rebates (No surprise there) but the phone was absolutely free so I can't complain too much. I also got 2nd day air shipping free too.
I am Habibur Rahman Nuri. My best wisher send me a motorola v3 phone from abroad. But I upsate when I see that it has a 5 mb memory. It is not a great set because when other company has 512 mb memory card then what it is ?

to make a short story shorter my razr got wet, doesnt work now, so my question is: CAN THE CAM BE REMOVED AND USED LIKE A SPYCAM OR IF THE SCREEN CAN BE USED,IF SO LET ME KNO.
I have a lot of pre-installed pictures etc on my phone when I bought it. They are locked, and there is no option to delete or unlock these pictures etc. Can anyone help??
